Custom surfaces on the drive
Workspace apps
Workspace apps are standalone surfaces owned by a Process or Service, living on the drive. They differ from plugins: plugins extend the host UI; apps have their own origin, lifecycle, and data.
Typical use: a domain review app that shows extracted terms beside source clauses. Builds are content-addressed; promoting a version repoints an alias without rewriting data. The app build hash is one leg of the process version tuple.
Apps are an advanced authoring concern — most operators verify through the console Inbox without building one.
