Services
A service is a kind of work your organization delivers again and again. It defines the work once, so every engagement starts the same way.

What a service is#
A service describes a repeatable piece of work: what it is for, who it is done for, the steps, and the files and skills each piece of work starts with. Examples are a benefits renewal, a monthly close, or a pricing analysis for a logistics client.
Each time the work is done for someone, that is an engagement of the service. You can give engagements your own name for a service, such as "Renewal" or "Close", and the console uses your word.
A service is a Draft until its first version is published, and Live after that. Only a live service can take engagements.
The Services page#
Services in the sidebar opens the list of services you can see. Live services are listed first, under Ready to run, then drafts under In development.
- The tiles at the top filter the list: Ready to run, In development, Needs attention, With open engagements.
- Search by name or description, and switch between a table and cards.
- Each row shows how many engagements are open and how much is waiting on you.
What you can do from a row depends on your access: Start an engagement, Open workspace or Continue building, or View service.
Create a service#
There are three ways to create one.
| Way | How it works |
|---|---|
| From a workspace | Do the work once in an ordinary workspace, then choose Save as service from More actions. The service starts with that workspace's files. This is the route in the Quickstart. |
| By talking to Fibo | Click New service and choose Type to Fibo or Speak with Fibo. Fibo asks what the service is called, who it is for and how it begins, reads any documents you give it, and shows you a summary. Click Create service and it builds and publishes the service while you watch. |
| By filling in a form | Click New service, then Fill it in manually. Five short steps, then Create service. You land in the new service's workspace with a draft to write. |
Nothing from a conversation with Fibo is saved until you click Create service.
A new service is private to the person who created it and to organization admins, until access is granted.
To start from an existing service, an admin can choose Duplicate from the service's menu.
The service page#
Click a service to open its page. The header shows its name, whether it is Live or Draft, its purpose and how many engagements are open.
| Tab | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Overview | Counts of open, waiting and closed engagements, what is waiting on someone, the service's definition, and its versions. |
| Engagements | Every engagement of the service. See Engagements. |
| Knowledge base | Documents the service's agents read. See Knowledge base. |
| Tasks | Definitions of the kinds of task used by engagements that run on a task board. |
| Configuration | The settings described below. |
| Access | Who can reach the service. Shown to people who manage its access. |
Configuration#
Organization admins edit the configuration; everyone else with access can read it. Changes are saved together with Save configuration.
| Panel | What you set |
|---|---|
| What this service is for | The purpose, in a sentence or two. |
| What one piece of work is about | The kind of party each engagement is about, and what you call one engagement. |
| How long the data lives | How long finished work is kept, and how long a paused workspace is kept. See Security and data. |
| Reviews | When reviews may be answered automatically. See below. |
| Default model | The model and effort this service's work uses unless someone chooses otherwise. See Models and spending. |
| Skills | The skills every new engagement starts with. See Use a skill in a workspace. |
Reviews#
The Reviews panel controls when a review that keeps being answered "continue" may be answered automatically.
- Continue on its own when changes are at or under a percentage: how rarely a kind of review must have needed a change.
- Looking back over the last number of answers.
- Never before a number of answers from a person.
The table underneath lists the kinds of review seen on the service, how often each was asked and changed, and whether the next one waits for a person or continues on its own. Set a kind to Always ask to keep a person in the loop regardless.
See Tasks and reviews for how this looks while work is running.
Access#
On the Access tab, the first row is everyone in the organization, followed by the people and groups with their own access.
| Level | Can do |
|---|---|
| No access | Cannot see the service. |
| Can view | See the service and its engagements. |
| Can start runs | Also start engagements. |
| Can edit | Also open the service's workspace and change its definition. |
Three switches add to a level: Approve, to answer reviews; Publish, to publish versions; and Manage access, to change this tab.
Click Add person or group, set the level, and click Save changes. Access only ever adds up: a person has the most that they, their groups and everyone in the organization have been given.
Access to a service does not open the workspaces of its engagements. An engagement's workspace is private to the person who started it until they share it.
Delete a service#
Open the menu on the service page, choose Delete service and type delete service to confirm. You need to manage the service's access.
